Posted: Wed Nov 11, 2009 1:35 pm Post subject: The Origin of FWan Carnames (WARNING: Image Heavy)
Similar to the Origin of Species, this thread is home to the theory that the names of FWan cars are linked to cars on Earth, but evolved during their transition into the digital world to the ones they have now. We, the people that are able to interact in both these worlds, have the unique ability to discern the links - the origins - of the FWan cars to their ancestors of inspiration...
Let's find out what all the car names came from shall we! I'll keep a list of all the cars and their most likely real-life counterpart here on the first post for folks, and update it periodically. I'll also put a little thank for contributing somewhere I guess for those that give a name that fits best..
Okay! Let's do this!
Special thanks to Caqui, Condor, DSR, Dream Racing and Frenzy for their car naming inputs!

Awesome inputs there DSR! Got a few that I didn't even have a clue on.
It'll take me a little while to put them all in and find pictures and stuff.. But keep going!
*Goes to work adding and checking, finding pics, etc..*
P.S. - If we were able to have signatures on this forum I would so sig your Pork Diablo one DSR. BWahahaha so funny..
EDIT: Speed FairHarry looks to be most related to the Ferrari F355/360/F430/485 Italia series (more the 360 than the others though), so I'll use them all as pics until someone can definitively say it's one over all the others. After a bit of searching the Toyouyota 2XD seems to actually be a Toyota 2WD (pickup/ute).. I sure wish it was the MR2 now.

OMG what's with the illegitamate children cars? Don't these cars care about the sanctaty of marriage... or some such
Good call on the Ben Eaton being Benetton, didn't think to consider F1 team names, even with the Scuderia in there for the last one.

Thanks Frenzy.
Well, I think I found two possible origins for the Lambada Camera V12. Suprisingly they both revolve around the same car - the Chevrolet Camaro, so I might be onto something? I don't know..
It can either be a Camaro with a V12 Lamborghini engine in it (or Lambo doors - there seems to be a lot of interest in putting those two things in this car model) OR, somthing more speculative..
Earlier this year General Motors announced that their development of the "Zeta platform" or drivetrain would be halted indefinately (link), making the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac G8 the last cars produced on this layout. Much speculation has been made on what drivetrain these cars will be produced on next, and as there are very few RWD platforms left to choose from, one theory is that they will use a modified version of - you guessed it - the "Lambda platform".
Both of these possible origins are a bit far fetched, but interesting nonetheless. I would say the engine option is more likely to be the real one here as at least it explains the "V12" part of the name. I'll leve that name blank as these ideas are unlikely at best - anyone else care to have a go at any of these?
EDIT: Ended up putting a "best guesses" list under the name, and included the Lamborghini/Porsche Carrera cross - thanks Caqui! Also, with the help of DSR, Masserbaggy 205F turned out to be the Maserati 250F!
EDIT2: Just licked the Ben Eaten BNW one too - when Benetton first started formula 1 in 1986, their cars used BMW engines! As such I'll put up the picture of their 1986 season car.. The McKerel F12 was found to be the specuative McLaren codename F12, supposed to be the successor for the McLaren F1.

Encheta, after you said that about the Camera V12, it can only be exactly that "Chevrolet Camaro with Lambo V12 engine conversion".
From those names, looks like they used some concept stuff too when choosing names, not only comercial stuff.
Also, their name pattern points to not changing the "core" of the name, like Ferraris using "Fair" (except for the last one that I'll explain), or Porches with "Pork".
They also use the "sound" of the name too like Feararmy for Ferrari instead of "Fair something" or the "purple" for "turbo" for Ford Focus (that's why I really think that either Speedy Fairharry or Spiky Fair Happy F7 is Ferrari Spider F360).
That's why I now really think it's Camaro with Lambo V12. 1st your toughts (Lambo V12 is very close to Lambada V12), 2nd they would use something like "Lambboringly", if I'm not wrong, for another Lamborghini.
Back to the guesses
With the "Horsy Slowfront - Mustang Fastback" (nice one Frenzy!), I think the other ones that we can't find anything are probably "puzzled" names like that one or a name that we need to get the "sound" of the word to reach the real one.
Can't stop thinking that "Bughabit Werewolf" could be "Bugatti Veyron" and "ScuttleButtleria Turbo Rosy" could be the "Scuderia Toro Rosso" (F1).
